Old cell phones, what does one do with them?
We All Have Them!
We probably all have one. A drawer with a couple or a dozen old cell phones. Some just don’t work, some work but we upgraded to a better phone. We have a charger for some, some not. You might date all the way back to the car bag phone, or an iPhone 5 might be in the drawer. You’re not the only one.
How to Dispose of Them
All communities have occasional electronics recycling days and you can drop your old phones off there. I do not see any in the next month or so in Door County, but when I know of one I’ll be sure to post it here, and on the Facebook page, Door County Real Estate with Lisa Bieri.
Another option that will help a local cause is to drop them at the Door County Humane Society. The Humane Society has a source they send the old phones to, and then receives back financial compensation for their efforts. And we all know that animal shelters can always use financial donations.
Door County Humane Society Cell Phone Drop Off
The phones can work, or not work. They can be in perfect condition or damaged. You do not need the power cords.
The office is open most days from 12-6:00 p.m. (closed on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday).
They are located at 3475 Park Drive just a bit south of Sturgeon Bay.
You can call the office at 920-743-1111.
So, if you’re cleaning house this fall because it’s time to declutter, or maybe you are preparing for a move, make a quick trip to the Humane Society with those old cell phones.
