Resale Shops…Door County Style
Resale has become big business in Door County. Resale shops allow one to recycle those unwanted items, and make a few bucks, or maybe find just the right accessory for their holiday display. Don’t wear the shoes any longer, too many handbags, clothes a size too large or small, changing out the curtains in the kitchen, have a vintage rolling pin? There’s a place for all of it in the Door County resale market!
I use all of the Door County shops from time to time, it really depends on what I have. Below is a run-down on the Door County resale shops I frequent—as a seller and as a buyer!

Julie’s Upscale Resale
Julie’s Upscale Resale is located on Country Walk Drive in Sister Bay (across from the Piggly Wiggly market). Julie’s was really my first resale shop experience and remains one of my very favorites.
Furniture, home accessories, designer clothing and handbags, shoes, clothing, kid’s clothing, vintage architectural items such as doors and windows…you just never know what you’ll find, the inventory seems to change daily.
A great thing about Julie’s is the clothing is staged seasonally—in early spring you’ll find spring and summer clothing and sandals, and as fall arrives those change (if there is anything left) to more fall and winter wear. As appropriate other items in the shop are staged seasonally too—spring/summer, winter/fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas…you get the idea…always a nice shopping experience.
Julie’s is a true consignment shop.
Drop off is by appointment so check out Julie’s website for scheduling. They also include a list of items they may not accept for sale. Julie’s has a Facebook page too and posts photos of new items for sale frequently.
Bjorn shoes, Dooney & Bourke handbags, Vera Bradley…I’ve received a good return on all of them!
If you love Mrs. Meyer’s products you can find them at Julie’s.
The Simple Solution Estate Sales and Service
The Simple Solution is located on Country Walk Drive too.
The Simple Solution is also a consignment store. The unique thing about Simple Solution is they can help you move your whole household. The enormity of organizing an entire household for a move and sale is overwhelming. The Simple Solution can offer a tailor made arrangement for the client’s needs; anything from running an estate sale on the property, to moving all the furniture to the showroom to sell, and determining which items are salable and which might be best donated or disposed of.
The Simple Solution will also take the one or two items you have for resale. Check out The Simple Solution website here. You’ll find frequent posting of new treasures for sale on The Simple Solution Facebook page.
I’ve found some great buys at Simple Solution. A Pottery Barn corner desk for my office, artwork for my walls, a wicker dining set for my deck, and even Byers Carolers at a fraction of the original cost. In turn I’ve had good result in selling artwork, household decor, and vintage linens.
If you love vintage, you’ll love Vintique! Among the vintage you might also find contemporary pieces, true antiques, and unique items.
For Valentine’s day I found the most adorable vintage valentines I framed for display. These little Hamm’s Beer “shorty” glasses were just too cute to leave at the shop. I bought five of them for $12; on eBay they are $30 for four glasses.
Bayside Bargains is in Sturgeon Bay. Like the others, it is a consignment shop. You won’t find clothing at Bayside Bargains, but you’ll find just about anything else from area rugs, furniture, small collectibles, artwork, shabby chic, vintage, and antique.
If I am passing through the west side of Sturgeon Bay I always make a stop at Bayside Bargains. I’ve scored some great area rugs, and my friend got a 10 foot Christmas tree with all the trimmings last year for just $25!
