An Annual Event
Jacksonport’s Town Christmas Party is an annual event that gets better every year! The Jacksonport Advancement Corporation and The Jacksonport Women’s Club team to host this fun night for the Jacksonport friends and neighbors.
It all begins with the tree
Lighting of the Christmas tree in Lakeside Park kicks off at 5:45 p.m., along with some singing of familiar Christmas songs. thanks to Dave’s Tree Service in Jacksonport for providing and installing the tree (and stringing the lights!).
The weather app says Jacksonport will see 35 degrees tomorrow, but by nightfall that will drop so dress warm!!
The party
Jacksonport’s Town Christmas Party moves over to the town hall, after the tree lighting and a little caroling.
Santa will be there, of course, and in addition to taking Christmas present requests he’ll have a little bag of treats for the kids.
Food and beverages are provided by the Jacksonport Advancement Corporation. This group does a lot for the town. JAC hosts Maifest every Memorial Day weekend, and then with funds earned at the event provide scholarships for Jacksonport high school seniors, other support to Sevatopol School, the 4-H club, and improvements around the town. The menu includes hotdogs, spanish hamburgers, cheese & sausage platters, some other food choices, and the 4H club kids make a variety of cookies for the night.
Like the JAC, the Jacksonport Women’s Club is a great supporter of Jacksonport area residents, organizations, and the town.
This time in the town hall is a wonderful opportunity to chat with neighbors you’ve not seen–since maybe last year’s party–and meet new residents.
Gifts
About 20 lucky folks will win a Christmas Poinsettia, and there is the bag of goodies from Santa for the kids.
Not a requirement, but if you can bring a non-perishable food item the 4H kids delivery those donations to the food pantry in Sturgeon Bay. If there is food left over from the party, it is packaged up and taken to the food pantry too.
Housekeeping
It takes a lot of people to coordinate a town party, and thank you’s go out to Dave’s Tree Service for the tree, the 4H club for the cookies, Santa for coming down from the North Pole, the JAC for the food and beverage, and the Jacksonport Women’s Club for the set-up and clean-up.
One last thing, it’s a natural that Santa would come to Jacksonport shortly before Christmas, because Meridian Park in Jacksonport is half-way to the North Pole. It’s a good chance for him to time his trip for Christmas Eve.
Jacksonport’s Town Christmas Party is the place to be on Saturday evening. See you there!
